[Q&A] Why my baby doesn’t seem interested in crawling?

Question: my baby is 9 1/2 months old and weighing at 10.1kgs. my question is, she doesnt seem interested in crawling. she will get into crawling position but refuses to move forward. however, recently she has started to stand without support and can last for a few seconds. is it normal for baby to skip crawling and start walking straightaway. i have read somewhere that babies should go through all phases of development. please advise.

Answer: Yes, crawling is the only exception and some babies skip that milestone and goes straight to standing from sitting position. I would be worried if she has not achieved the other milestones but if she is already standing at 9.5 months, she ‘s fine. In fact she ‘s rather advanced . cheers !

Sorry if I am going to ask similar question.
My son is one year old. Do not crawl. When put on tummy, he will straight away sit. He didn’t take object further away because he is not moving around or scooting at all, will try to extend his upper body to reach the nearest object only.
He will stand with support and pull up with both hands. To get things far, he used me as clutch.. He will push his head on me to bear the weight. If I refused, he will just cry..
Should I walked him holding his armpit/arms/hands…Forthebest interest of his muscle development Or just let him be?
    Thanks… I’m worried.

      HI Kit Yeng,
A child is considered delayed in walking if he doesn’t walk by 18 months of age. U mentioned that he is able to stand with support, and dis you mean he is able to bear weight on his own but had to hold on things e.g a chair or table to stand? there’s a difference between bearing weight and standing with support . Bearing weight is a milestone that shd be achieved by 6 months of age- even if u were to hold his hand lightly , he is able to be upright. Is he able to sit with a straight back steadily? Does he bottom shuffle – meaning he moves by moving his butt? Can he cruise – meaning if he were to stand holding the edge of a table , he can move to the side slowly ?
I would like to reassure but without knowing more info, I’m afraid i can’t comfortably do so.
what about other aspect of development, can he pick small things using his thumb and index finger , can he say mama and papa?
