I have a question.my daughter is just turned to 7months old.last week i noted she has already teething.she also had loose stool since last week up to 8 times per day.once,she got diaper rash due to the increase bowel motion.otherwise she seems to be ok.actively playing..taking orally as usual.not cranky at sleeping time.no colic symptoms.no fever or flu.up to this moment still having some loose stool.at interval i notice she did pass motion as before,her usual consistency of stool.i just wanna ask because from my reading is there any relation between increase bowel movement at the time of teething?thanks for ur advice.assalamualaikum
Answer: It’s very likely , considering the frequency of your child’s bowel output , that he had a mild viral gastroenteritis (AGE) or infection of the gut rather than teething related. Mild AGE may present with or without fever. What is more important is to ensure that your baby is not dehydrated. Although there were some opinions that diarrhoea maybe associated with teething , based on studies and current recommendation , the opinion is best avoided. I am in the opinion that if it is very mild, it may be possible but based on your description of your child’s frequency, it’s unlikely related
