[Q&A] 3 month old baby BNO for 6/7

Question: Dear doctors, my 3 month old baby BNO for 6/7. I was giving him breast milk and top up on and off with formula milk. Im not sure whether he is having constipation, should I bring him to see the doctor? He passed a lot of very odour flatus and no abdominal distension seen. Please give me some advices thank you. Answer: For exclusively breastfed babies, it is normal not to have passed motion for one week even. This is especially true if baby is otherwise comfortable, feeding well with no abdominal distension and no colic, no discomfort, and no vomitting. Does he have difficulty when he pass motion? Does he strain and is his stools very hard? If not the, it is highly likely there is nothing wrong. For mixed feeding, it may not be true but I suppose your baby is very much breastfed with very infrequent formula milk feeding. You can see a doctor to ensure baby is well, and the abdomen is not distended.
