[Q&A] Storing medicine in the fridge

Question: Hi, I always store medicine in the fridge after each visit to the Dr. If medicine like paracetamol or cough syrup(left over)is store in the fridge and it is still not expired, can the medicine be use in the future(as long not expired)? or do i need to go the the clinic? (Rosy)

Answer: Medicines in syrup formulation can be stored in the fridge once it is opened, but do not freeze. As a general rule, it can be stored for up to 3-6 months from the day it is opened. Any longer than that, the medicine should be discarded. This only applies to commercially packed syrup medication (which contained preservatives). Any liquid medications that come in powder form or prepared freshly by the pharmacist will have different storage duration depending on the type of medicine.

Suhaila, memandangkan diagnosis telah disahkan oleh doktor, adalah elok agar puan berbincang dengan doktor yang merawat anak kerana mereka mempunyai maklumat kesihatan anak dari awal.
