[Q&A] Boleh doctor share antara penyakit mulut pada bayi?

Question: Salam. Bole doctor share antara penyakit mulut pada bayi?? Anak saya umur 1y1m/o, 6 hari lepas baru discharge hosp due to : 5days of kahak + denggi then when about to be discharge kene rota virus another 5 days di hospital. So since 10days di hospital but rotavirus tak completely heal (mungkin sbb stress duduk hosp) we ask utk keluar. Ni baru 6hari di rumah tiba2 temperature naik, pipi kanan nmpak bengkak (plus he keeps on pointing his right cheek) and air liur meleleh2 tak boleh telan. He cant even bfeed n eat/drink water. But last night maybe sbb terlalu lapar n thirsty – pasal after rotavirus appetite naik mendadak, dia minum air masak. I went to clinik doc ckp tade ape2 mungkin nak tumbuh gigi.
The thing is that al this while 6btg gigi tumbuh tade plak demam mcm ni and when i google most article saying teething takde related dgn dmm.
please explain & wut could possibly going on with my baby.

Answer: Yes, teething tidak menyebabkan demam secara asasnya walaupun ramai yang beranggapan sedemikian .
It’s hard to pinpoint the diagnosis without an examination however , infection of the gums may be a contributing factor. Or an ulcer anywhere at the oral cavity. Jangkitan mumps juga boles menyebabkan pipi nampak bengkak . Bawa berjumpa pakar jika keadaan tidak baik. Pemeriksaan adalah pending untuk mendapatkan diagnosis serener. The most likely reason for the oral condition of your child is primary herpes simplex infection. This condition usually occurs in young children between ages of 1 and 5 years. Babies in general do not develop this condition before age 6 months as there is a degree of immunity transferred from the mother.
The primary herpes infection causes high fever, oral pain and gingivitis, ulceration and poor oral intake. The condition is self limiting, usually being very acute for the first 5 days and resolves spontaneously in about 14 days.
You should ensure your child has adequate bed rest and soft diet with lots of fluids to keep hydrated. Also, consider child dose of paracetamol suspension to control fever. If the conditions worsen, please consult your family doctor or dentist for further management.
