Question: Hi doctors. My 5 year-old son is having high fever (on/off) and diarrhea for the past 6 days (since last wednesday) He passes motion more than 10 times a day. His highest temp was 39.9 and reacted positively towards paracetamol (progessic) everytime given. We went to a nearby private hospital last wednesday and the doctor has prescribed him smecta, ors, paracetamol and vorren supp. The fever went off temporarily but not the diarrhea. Today he is having fever again and only went off when we give him paracetamol. He shows sign of severe stomach pain before asking to go to toilet. His stool seems loose and he will ask for food and drink whenever he had pass motion. Pls help me. Tq
Answer: please seek medical attention. See a doctor again whenever your child’s condition do not improve as expected. We have published an article on cirit birit before. But the severe stomach pain and recurring fever are enough reason for you to see a doctor. Signs of recovery includes reducing fever, stools less loose and not frequent , able to take fluids well, passes urine as usual, active, returning appetite.
