Question: Hi Doctor,
My daughter now is 1y10m. Last 2 months I realize there’s a changes in her finger skin tone from her finger until her hand. When I refer it to a normal physician, they said that it is called Vitiligo and it is very uncommon happend to childrens.
My question is, can vitiligo be treated? Will it be spreading to her whole hand, arms and body? Thank you
Answer: Vitiligo is a condition where there are white patches on the skin . It is uncommon in children and can be caused by different reason e.g genetic, problem with antibodies attacking the body own immune system etc. There are many types of vitiligo and it is difficult t predict whether it will spread. Some children are affected more than the other . In some cases, it can be treated with phototherapy . My suggestion is please see a skin doctor ( dermatologist).
