Question: Hi doc.
I would like to ask a few question to you regarding my 3 months old daughter. She had a fever before with 38.5 deg cel. Some of general practional prescribed my baby with ubat batuk, ubat kahak, antibiotic and paracetemol 2.5ml. Is that ok for my baby?
I also would like to know is there any side effect of antibiotic consumption to my baby?
Recently I notice that my baby’s head feel a bit hot compare to her body temperature. Is that normal for her?
Im using strip termometer and digital termometer, which one is the most acurate?
I was affected with Urine Tract Infection after delivered my baby, does it effect my baby since im fully breast feeding her?
Answer: Kids below the age of 2 should not be given cough syrup. Paracetamol is fine. Antibiotics if deemed necessary to treat infection may be taken. Serious side effects are rare but that also depends on different antibiotics.
If your child is having fever , then of course that is not normal and signify there is infection . But on other days where the head is warmer than the body , that is normal in babies of that age especially .
The digital thermometer is better.
Urinary tract infection , after delivery will not infect your child through breastfeeding .
