Question: I am a mother to 1 year old child. My son was born with biliary atresia and had gone thru Kasai Operation at 100 days of age. However the operation does not clear the bilirubin. Now he has cirrhotic liver, has developing ascites and loss of weight.
What should i do to help him to gain weight and removing the water retention in his abdomen? What type of assential supplements should be given to him as now his pead doctor has stopped most of his medicine because no improvement so far.
Please advice me on the best way to care for my child.

Answer: Im sorry about your son. I guess d doctor has explained to u his current condition.I believe he is under d care of a paediatrician right? Im afraid that i cant say much withhout examining yr child as i m very careful when giving advice/dealing w a child with chronic disease. My advice to u snay is to talk to d paediatrician. They r the best to guide u on what to do. Tell them your concern.
